Attention all NY State High School Football Fans.
The New York State Sports Writers Association needs your help! We all enjoy the weekly State Rankings and All-State teams, but now, due to the economic downturn, we are in serious jeopardy of losing that aspect of the high school football season. You can read all about it here on John Moriello´s blog, and all it will take is a $40 donation for the entire year from each high school sports fan. Please help out!

The sight of a few dozen football coaches crammed into high school desks and feverishly scribbling into notebooks can only mean one thing: the countdown to the 2010 season has begun. That was the scene at New Rochelle High School on Monday, January 18, where coaches from Section One and the tri-state area gathered for the ninth-annual New Rochelle Football Clinic.

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the teachers became students once again, as coaches listened to presentations from various college coaches and professional instructors. Various offensive and defensive topics were covered, including the midline triple option, cover 2/3 techniques, player evaluation and recruitment, pass protection techniques, the three-step pass game, boot concepts from the spread, linebacker and defensive line fundamentals, the Wildcat package and defending the triple option and the spread.

Always drawing on some of the nation’s most experienced and knowledgeable coaches, this year’s clinic included speakers from Penn State University, Rutgers University, Syracuse University, the University of Maryland, the University of Delaware, the University of Maine, Fordham University, Stony Brook University, Marist College, Bryant University, Gannon University and Springfield College.
